Contemporary Spanish Cuisine
Lamoraga (LAH-more-RAHG-uh) has opened to “rave reviews” in Naples, Florida. The restaurant is the first completely freestanding independent unit for Lamoraga globally. The restaurant franchise's owners, a family group with local connections, discovered Lamoraga while in their second home in Malaga Spain and after falling in love with the dining concept. Already in the works are plans to open other locations throughout Florida after deciding Naples was the perfect site to launch.
The name Lamoraga combines two Spanish words. Moraga is an Andalusian term for barbecue on the beach. The menus of Lamoraga's locations are similar, but have broad variations. Although the first page of the restaurant's menu is tapas, Lamoraga strives to be more than a tapas restaurant. The modern menu in Naples combines traditional Spanish delicacies with gourmet international influences. Options include sashimi dishes, pork sliders, beef burgers, carpaccio and croquettes filled with cuttlefish and squid ink. There is also a full liquor craft cocktail bar serving hand crafted drinks, red, white and sparkling sangrias as well as an extensive wine list by the glass.
The 5,300-square-foot, full-service restaurant has a total of 150 seats, including a 90-seat dining room, bar seating and six tables outside on its northwest corner. The dining room includes a unique feature similar to a "chef's table," which wraps around the glass walled open kitchen and offers interaction between the chefs and patrons With 26 seats there is room for all.
Lamoraga's first two locations are in Spain one in Malaga, where Lamoraga Group International is based, and one in Madrid. Other locations recently opened and the first outside of Spain in Frankfurt. In addition to the Naples restaurant, future locations are coming soon to Budapest, Dubai and Valencia.
