Recent Renovations at Cambier Park Are Sure to Please Visitors of All Ages

Nestled amongst the shade trees just south of the shops and restaurants on 5th Avenue South sits Cambier Park. This is a beautiful amenity in the middle of downtown Naples and a shining example of an all American park complete with a baseball field, a large band shell, grassy areas surrounded by meandering walkways, two playgrounds for both younger and older children, tennis, basketball, and bocce ball. Cambier Park is 10 acres of fun and has hosted many events over the years including art shows, Saturday night family movies, Veteran's Day celebrations, Naples High School homecoming, jazz concerts, big band, bluegrass, as well as the Naples Philharmonic.

On the south side of the park is the Norris Center, home to the Gulfshore Playhouse, as well as an auditorium with stage, 2 meeting rooms, a dance studio, conference room, game room, art gallery, and an amphitheater. The center offers many cultural and recreation classes including; creative arts, adult dance, acting, languages and martial arts. During the holidays there are a variety of camp programs and special performances for families. Next to the Norris Center is the Arthur Allen Tennis which offers year-round tennis staffed by professionals and boasts 12 Har-Tru courts, a pro shop, leagues, clinics, and lessons.

On the northwest corner of the park is the Von Liebig art center, home to the Naples Art Association. This 16,000 square foot, two-story facility features six studios, a main exhibition hall, galleries, one of the area’s largest art resource libraries and a gift shop. Since it was established in 1999 it has been host to many art exhibitions, classes of all mediums, and workshops for all ages.

On Wednesday $250,000 dollars worth of renovations were completed and the park reopened. The work was done by Leather & Associates out of New York which redesigned the park while preserving the pirate/ocean theme while adding color and features such as a water mister. The renovations will be ongoing and are to include an adult exercise area and adult exercise equipment. Fundraising for the project is ongoing and fence planks are being sold for $100-per-plank and host the name of the individual or business making the donation.
